Learn to love.

Very recently I read a book by Joyce Meyer titled ‘The Love Revolution’ and the book stirred up something in me, which I want to share it with you today. After reading the book I realised that there is not enough love in our world today and somehow we have failed to demonstrate love as much as God wants us to. I realised that everyday of our lives should be used to show love and kindness to people in need - that is God’s desire!

As we all know, there are millions of people around the world that are living in terrible conditions. There are people who barely have food or water; and they are dying everyday. There are millions of sick people that do not even have access to health care facilities, people are suffering from depression and some people commit suicide as a result of depression. The list is endless. We often come across these people everyday in our lives and we say a silent ‘thank God’ because we are living in better conditions! We wish that the government and the rich people in the society would do something to help. But if I may ask, what have you done to help? What efforts have we put into supporting these people?

It may seem like an impossible task trying to cater for the needs of everyone. But what if I start in the little way I can? If you start too, together we can get others to join us. Before long, we would be making a difference in the world. It really is not good enough to just feel bad about people’s situation and move on, that doesn’t solve it. Let’s always stop to ask ourselves what we can do to help.

Yes, it wouldn’t be convenient all the time, but love is not cheap! God loves us so much that He gave His only Son to die for our salvation - that was a very expensive price to pay - but see how many lives has been saved as a result. So understand that it would cost you to show love. The cost may be your time or your money, but be rest assured that there is a tremendous reward for every act of sincere love that you show to others. And you also get to put a smile on God’s face.

Love is the nature of God, and as His children, it is our responsibility to reflect His nature. Reflect His love to our world. Be very practical about it. The child that roams on your street barefoot, buy him a pair of slippers, the one that looks very hungry and malnourished, buy him lunch. Visit orphanages, give your old clothes out to people that need them, see someone that is sad and make sure you cheer him or her up. See someone in need and make it your responsibility to meet that need, compliment people, be nice. Don’t bring people down with your words and attitude. Bottom line is, let’s be of help in anyway we can. This is God’s desire, that we should love one another as He loves us - unconditional and undiluted love-

We should also remember that love is the greatest form of evangelism, so more than preaching it we should also practice it and win people over to God’s side by showing them love. It’s time we start a love revolution.

N.B: The book is a must read for everyone, I promise it won’t be a waste of time. You can get in a Christian bookstore or online at Amazon.
